Tech Tuesday: Software Supply Chain Attacks

Join Stockholm University’s Department of Computer and Systems Sciences (DSV) for a Tech Tuesday seminar on software supply chain attacks — and what they mean for trust in modern software.

When

14 Oct 2025

8:45 – 9:45

Where

NOD building
Borgarfjordsgatan 12, Room: L30, Kista, 164 55

Today’s software relies heavily on reused components and automation tools, built by a vast network of contributors who may never meet. This supply chain approach speeds up development and can improve quality, but it also creates new security risks.

On 14 October, Senior DSV Lecturer Nicolas Harrand will unpack what happens when parts of the software supply chain go rogue. He will share real-world examples and explore what can be done to address these risks, offering perspectives on how organisations and developers might respond.

Agenda

08:45 – Breakfast & networking

09:15 – Welcome

09:20 – Presentation by Nicolas Harrand

09:35 – Q&A

09:45 – Event concludes

Who should attend?

This session is relevant for professionals, researchers, and students in software development, cybersecurity, and IT management — and for anyone interested in the risks behind today’s software practices.

Meet the speaker

Nicolas Harrand is a Senior Lecturer at DSV, Stockholm University, where he teaches information and software security. He holds a PhD in empirical software engineering from KTH, with research focused on software library ecosystems and build automation tools.
