In this talk, we explain in plain terms why some of widely used encryption protocols are susceptible to an attack by a quantum computer, touching in brief the topic of quantum computing (QC) and its development, discuss possible protective measures and associated challenges, and present the RISE plan towards post-quantum resilience in Sweden.
This presentation is a part of the ongoing RISE project “Post-quantum resilience: living in a post-quantum world” on ways for post-quantum transition for the Swedish industry, public sector and society. The talk can be given in Swedish or English upon the preference of the audience.

Meet the speaker
Mikhail Popov is a senior researcher at RISE Research Institutes of Sweden with a PhD in Physics from the Royal Institute of Technology. With vast experience from telecom, automation, information protection, and ML/AI, he currently focuses on Post Quantum Cryptography and Resilience.
